Our planning has 5 directives which we call our Big Ideas:
Sharing Spaces: look for ways to use existing resources like gardens and tools as well as sharing labour to increase local food production.
Education and Mentorship: present opportunities for teaching and learning that focus on our particular region (eg. climate specific gardening, invasive species, food preservation, seed-saving)
Coordination and Communication: at the Board/governance level, continue to strive for an organization with a reputation of dependability; work to develop strong communication with other groups who deal with food matters to put the focus on local and maximize opportunities for coordinated projects.
Food Security and Local Food Systems: develop connections with other organizations, small scale farmers, farmers markets and local government to enhance the objective of sustaining a thriving local food culture (eg. Annual Seed Swap).
Social Enterprise: explore ways using social enterprise models to create sustainable funding when possible.
