Let’s keep local seeds growing!
A Seed Swap is a community event where gardeners, farmers, and seed savers come together to exchange seeds, share knowledge, and celebrate local food resilience.
How It Works
Participants bring seeds they’ve saved from their own gardens—whether vegetables, herbs, flowers, or native plants—and trade them with others. Even if someone doesn’t have seeds to swap, they can take seeds home in exchange for a small donation.
Why It Matters
Preserves Biodiversity – Helps maintain diverse, locally adapted plant varieties.
Encourages Sustainability – Reduces reliance on commercial seed companies and promotes self-sufficiency.
Strengthens Community – Connects people who are passionate about gardening, food security, and environmental stewardship.
Shares Knowledge – Provides an opportunity to learn from experienced growers about seed saving, planting techniques, and local growing conditions.
Seed swaps are an important tradition for protecting and passing down heirloom and open-pollinated seeds, ensuring future generations have access to resilient and nutritious plants.
