Glean Golden Program Coordinator
Glean Golden
Community Fruit Picking Program
The Glean Golden Community Fruit Picking Program harvests surplus fruit from neighbourhood trees in Golden and nearby areas and distributes to community members through a variety of channels including the Golden Food Bank, the Golden Farmers Market, the local School District, and to local ranchers as livestock feed.
The primary goal of the program is to recover this substantial local food source and to make it available to community members. A strong secondary benefit is the reduction of bear attractants from within the Town site, reducing the likelihood of human wildlife conflict.
This program was piloted in August & September 2023, and we are ready for the official start-up of this program in 2024.
